Karley and Calvin's wedding fell on the precise day winter decided to show her face in Minnesota. Temps went from an unseasonably mild fall, to a high of 33 degrees, what felt like overnight. I bundled up in a few layers as I packed my gear for my last wedding of the 2023 season.
Arriving at The Cottage farmhouse under moody, late October skies and seeing Karley's bridesmaids' dresses - classy black gowns - all hung along a wall, I thought 'she could not have picked a more perfect color palate for this day.' Karley's beautifully detailed floral lace gown, cathedral length veil, understated jewelry, and white fur stole completed the downright elegant ensemble. I couldn't wait for Calvin, her fiancé, high school sweetheart, boyfriend of nearly seven years, to see her.
Fall was hanging on by a thread, and there was a single tree still blazing it's autumnal color, right behind the farmhouse where Karley and the ladies were getting ready. Karley and Calvin read their emotional private vows surrounded by golden leaves, and married at the Church of St. Pius X with all their friends and family bearing witness. After a beautiful mass, we walked outside to snow falling gently around us. Karley's aunt did her beautiful hair, and they snuck off for a few minutes after the ceremony for a style change. I honestly can't decide if I loved it up or down more! We braved the cold for a snowy golden hour in the beautiful fields surrounding The Cottage Farmhouse, and then dinner, heartfelt speeches, and a dance party that went on long after I left. This was truly such a good day.
