Susie & Austin's Spring Wedding at Saint Anne Catholic Church in Somerset, Wisconsin

Updated: May 4, 2023

I'm driving down a country road in New Richmond, Wisconsin on a breezy late April morning. The sky is overcast. Sprinkles threaten to turn to rain. We've said our prayers, checked the radar, and brought our umbrellas. The weather is out of our hands and it's going to be a good day, no matter what the clouds decide to do.

I'm checking the mail box numbers. There it is. I turn down the gravel driveway into Susie's 8 acre property. She bought the 120 year old farmhouse before Austin proposed. A project she's been tackling with her dad. Scaffolding up in the front. Upstairs completely gutted. Her potted citrus trees clustered in the sun porch, safe from the lingering frosts. This is the beginning of a very good story. This house will be the backdrop of so many important moments. It already has been. This is where Austin asked Susie if she would marry him. It's only fitting that Susie, along with her sisters and best friends, spent the morning there getting ready. I think about the fact that she'll be able to look back on these images one day, possibly with her own daughters, in the house where it all started, and think about how everything unfolded over the years.

But let's not get ahead of ourselves.

Today Susie is marrying the man of her dreams. She met Austin in confirmation class. And now they teach it together at their parish in Somerset. This is the beginning of two becoming one. Grounded in their faith. Surrounded by two fantastically big families. With enough ice cream for everyone.

From getting ready at her home, to saying their vows, to partying the night away with their favorite people., Mr. & Mrs. Anderson's day one was a VERY good day. And it barely rained!

Congratulations Susie and Austin!
