Intimate Wedding Up North // Kelsey + Nick // Grand View Lodge, MN

Updated: Mar 3, 2021

I met Kelsey and Nick for the first time at a brewery in Minneapolis. We just so happened to book our consult meeting on Trivia Night - which resulted in us half-yelling over the hustle and bustle as they shared their plans for a laid-back cabin wedding in Northern Minnesota. I was thrilled when they booked me and loved getting to know the two of them (and their lil' pup!) through their engagement session and, finally, their gorgeous fall wedding in Nisswa, MN.

Getting Ready

It was a beautifully cool, rainy September morning by the lake when I arrived at the bridal suite to find Kelsey getting ready with her sister, her mom, and Nick's mom. They had the cutest matching flannel shirts and Kelsey was cool as a cucumber as she put her dress on and got ready to meet her groom.

Kelsey had a collection of the coolest little polaroids from the night before, when they had gotten together to welcome all of their out of town guests. Its not often I get to style detail shots with precious photo memories - such a creative touch!

The First Look

Nick's wedding morning nerves seemed to melt away as soon as he saw Kelsey. These two seriously could not be more perfect together - radiating the same kind, spunky energy and caring so deeply for each other and all of their people. Talking with their friends and loved ones throughout the day I heard this confirmed over and over again.

The Ceremony

Their intimate ceremony took place in the sweetest little chapel at Grand View Lodge. Kelsey's pup, Daisy was the best flower girl a bride could have asked for and wanted nothing more than to be as close to Kelsey as possible during the whole ceremony. Adorable is an understatement!

Kelsey and Nick decided to signify their unity and honor their mothers' role in their lives through a really special tree watering ceremony. Their officiant was a good friend who knew the couple so well - which made for a ceremony filled with both laugher and tears.

And they're married!

These are seriously some of my favorite moments at every wedding - when you can't quite believe you're actually married and now you get to celebrate!

Reception

Kelsey and Nick had their reception at Nick's family cabin - the laid-back atmosphere called for an outfit change as they hung out with their favorite people and celebrated their marriage!

What a seriously beautiful day! Congrats to Kelsey and Nick!

A huge thanks to everyone who made it possible:
